Ep. #53 New Data: It's Better Business to Sponsor Elite Women's Sports Than Men's, ft. Sarah Styles

In episode #53 of The Business Case For Women’s Sports, presented by Ally, Caroline interviews Sarah Styles - the Director of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation in Victoria, Australia.

In 2015, the Victorian Government made a commitment to increase the number of women and girls participating in sport and active recreation.

As a result, the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation was born, which is the only government agency of its kind in Australia.

In her role, Sarah oversees all of the Office’s initiatives, and most recently, her team released a new piece of research called, ‘The Value of You Can Be What You Can See: Addressing the Sponsorship Gap for Women’s Elite Sport’ that found that sponsorships of women’s elite sport actually outperform men’s when it comes to brand awareness, brand consideration and customer conversion.

The data revealed that for every $1 corporate sponsors invest into women's sport, they see - on average - $7.29 customer value in return.

In this episode, listen to Sarah and Caroline discuss the findings of the full report, and make the business case for why brands should sponsor women’s elite sports.
