Ep. #54 New Research from the National Research Group Shows Growing Popularity of Women's Sports, ft. Jay Kaufman

In episode #54 of The Business Case For Women’s Sports, presented by Ally, Caroline interviews Jay Kaufman - the Executive Vice President & Head of Sports at the National Research Group.

In their recently released Leveling the Playing Field report, the NRG summarizes how the popularity of women’s sport has grown significantly over the last few years.

The report’s key takeaways include:

  • In the United States, 3 in 10 sports fans say they’re watching more women’s sports now than they were 5 years ago.
  • The broadcast market for women’s sports grew significantly worldwide this year, thanks in part to wildly successful events like the UEFA European Women’s Championship and ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup.
  • 85% of fans – including 79% of men – think that it’s important for women’s sports to continue to grow in popularity.
  • During the Tokyo Games, in half of the 10 most widely viewed sports, viewership for women’s events was higher than men’s.

In this episode, hear Jay breakdown the Leveling The Playing Field report, and discuss how the research proves that it’s good business to invest in women & girls in sports.
